Final Itinerary for Mission to Honor:

SSGT Charles I. Cartwright, 26, Union Bridge, MD, 15, 16 NOV 09

It is with great sadness, that we announce that Maryland has lost a true American Hero. Staff Sgt. Charles I. Cartwright lost his life in Afghanistan – his fifth tour of duty.  He was a highly decorated soldier, having received several awards for valor, in addition to two Purple Hearts.

He is survived by his wife of 11 months, his parents and sister. He was raised in the Carroll County area, and graduated from Walkerville High School near Frederick.  His father is a Union Bridge fireman, so it is fitting that his funeral will be held in the Union Bridge Fire Hall.          There will be a visitation on Sunday, Nov 16th, and funeral service on Monday, Nov 17th. His family has asked the PGR to join them in honoring this Hero.
